Whilst you don't see the problem with the fact that they can use bigger images, I on the other hand have chosen to see things differently. This is probably the only place I know of where the admin says that they get to have a bigger self imposed image limitation when the default setting was originally 200x200 for all of us. Having an 'authority equals complete freedom' mantra is not my favourite answer when someone is asked about the reasons behind their decisions. Simply put, there's no reason why the mods can't have the same image limitations as the rest of us; if it were a matter of distinguishing themselves you already have the font coloration and a legend on the main page that tells you who's who depending on the colour.
Wooooow.
Reading that, it makes me get the feeling that Miu is an evil overlord.
Hahaha.
Miu's communist!! XD
Hey, maybe we should work together on our own anonymous image board software, it shouldn't be that hard!

We're probably sharing a box with some heavy traffic site like "stickytentaclepornz.getphpbb.com", and we're kinda stuck with how they've configured their server. I tried to report a problem at one point, but their tech support forums have been offline for months. Trade-off for free hosting, I suppose.caesium wrote:If you want, I'd be willing to host the site on my own web host, which I currently do not use. It allows for unlimited bandwidth usage and almost unlimited MySQL queries. Failing that, I could create an 'archive' of HikiForum which people can refer to when the main site is down (I've already made an archival script for /hikki/ on AnonIB).
caesium, that's a generous offer! Creating an archive would be terrific in my view. I would be happy to mirror this site (and /hikki/ for that matter, sans malware and the other crap on the AnonIB servers). If you've been archiving the AnonIB /hikki/, there's a bunch of people who will be very happy...Link (another poster here) had a site for a bit, but I think the host bit the dust.
Maybe it's time to build a free version without advertising and some more features. It would be trivial to modify something like phpBB to let posters choose to post with names or anonymous, but still allow invisible moderation for abuse (spammers, etc.). Then again, there's quite a few things I might do differently with the forum software to try and get something that gives that open feeling of /hikki/ but gives the visitor better search capabilities, etc.

My /hikki/ archival script just uses some regex tricks to rip posts and threads from Anonib, and then insert it into my own SQL database - sans malware and ads, of course![]()
At the moment, all I have done is gotten the threads and posts to display on a page - I still need to work on a search feature and moderation feature.
The easiest thing for the administrators of HikikomoriForum to do would be to see whether or not getphpbb allows it's users to download SQL backups of the forum - in which case transferring existing users and posts to a new forum would be a trivial affair.
Thanks for the offer of hosting the /hikki/ archive - hopefully by distributing the archive and having multiple people hosting it, there will be less chance of it disappearing entirely in the future. There are some good threads in it, and it would be a shame to have it all disappear when AnonIB finally bites the dust!
