Coincidentally enough, I too had forgotten about the title until yesterday when I was searching for another thread I made here.

This is the HF version of the thread in case you're wondering and as the topic title says: It's "Now I" or Ima Boku Wa

general-discussion-f7/now-i-ima-boku-wa-p-hikikimori-neet-movie-review-t222.html?hilit=ima%20wa%20boku

However from what little I've googled, I've since surmissed that it is a NEET and not a Hikikomori movie.

I apologize for not thanking you for making this thread but I was considering doing that in my reply which had you not asked of this would've been after I wrote an impression and watched all the links. (I also felt I was overburdened as it was, so although this sounds like an excuse, I didn't want to pressure myself in writing the reply until I've actually done it.)

Both. I would say more about being a hikikomori, if a "normal" person was facing murders and delusions all around him he would act differently therefore the entire plot would inevitably be different.

When he was a boy Takumi Nishijou wasn't allowed on a school trip. He drew a picture of the bus and then tore it in two. That same day the bus crashed killing everyone inside. He was traumatised and blamed himself and so became a hikikomori. Fast forward to the present day and he lives by himself in a storage crate on the roof of an apartment building in Shibuya, Tokyo. His room is filled with anime figurines. Lately things haven't been going well, he has schizophrenia and has trouble telling delusion from reality, which dosen't help when a string of murders occur in Shibuya...
